But.. What If You Don’t Want To Take Public Transport?
Getting to all the glamping sites will need transport, even where the journey will be completed by boat.
To enjoy these trips to the fullest, you will need to find a transport service that will fit into your program and not you fitting yourself to their schedules.
This is the reason why you need to hire a private taxi to Malaysia from Singapore from SGMYTAXI.
7 to 10 seaters MPV vehicle, spacious for a family or a group of friends plus their luggage.
You can stop anywhere you want for refreshments, lunch, photos or just to take in the scenery during trip Bus only stop at scheduled places.

Suitable for a half-day trip, Pulau Harimau, which literally means Tiger Island, is located off east coast of Mersing district, Johor.
The island is a hidden treasure in Malaysia where most of the residents wouldn’t have been here throughout their lifetime.
It has successfully retained its purity and pristine nature and hence, it offers maximum serenity and tranquillity to visitors.
What are you waiting for?
This interesting and charming island is now waiting for you to discover it from top to bottom.
Why Stay in Pulau Harimau?
Looking down from high up the sky, the landscape of this island looks like a tiger in the middle of the ocean. And that’s why Pulau Harimau got its name.
There is no sign of pollution on this island. The water is so clear that you can see fishes and reefs right from the water’s surface.
Pulau Harimau is not a famous tourist destination but amongst the most elegant islands you can ever find in Malaysia, there is no doubt that Pulau Harimau is one of them.
If you ask around those who has been there, no one will tell you how undeveloped and backward the island is. Nevertheless, they’ll tell you this amazing and stunning island is definitely worth the trip and you know where your next vacation destination is.
How to Get to Pulau Harimau
Only boat transfer from Mersing Jetty will take you to Pulau Harimau. You’ll need to arrange road transfer to Mersing Jetty by your own.
There are a few scheduled boat transfer daily but all of them depend on tidal condition. Tickets can be bought at the counter.
There are direct coach services available daily. You can book your tickets right after checking the Singapore-Mersing bus schedules online. Normally the bus leaves early in the morning. More info: https://causewaylink.com.my/express-bus#tab_jbms
It’s a whole new world right after you travel through the giant cavern of Pulau Harimau. You’ll be greeted by a natural private pool with turquoise water and here you can enjoy swimming and floating around aimlessly.
On the other side of the island is white sandy beach and the view of the clear blue sky and dazzling ocean is extremely stunning. Don’t forget to take pictures of this amazing view.
There is a staircase heading up to the lighthouse that is opened for visitors. At the lighthouse you can enjoy overlooking down and take in wonderful views of the island’s unique landscape.
Pulau Harimau is the paradise for divers as the turquoise water has high clarity. Go for scuba diving and snorkelling when you reach here. There are numerous cute fishes and coral reefs waiting for you to get close with them.
Where to Stay in Pulau Harimau
This uninhabited and deserted island has no resort at all. The nearest resorts are Alang’s Rawa Resort and Rawa Island Resort located on the nearby island, Rawa Island. These resorts provide island hopping to Pulau Harimau as well.
April to September would be the best months to visit Pulau Harimau as the weather is good and the coast is clear for snorkelling, scuba diving and many other interesting activities. If you’re fortunate, you even get the chances to see seasonal fishes swimming in the warm water.
Avoid visiting Pulau Harimau when monsoon wind blows, which probably falls between December to February. Rainy days and rough sea could totally ruin your holiday mood because it’s too dangerous to go for any activities. Even worse, there are very few ferries or boat to take you there too.

Step 2: Take Ferry From Mersing Jetty To Tioman Island
When you arrive at Mersing Jetty, you’ll come across a Bluewater Express ferry or Cataferry that will bring you to Tioman Island.
If you prefer to drive to Tanjung Gemok Jetty or Mersing Jetty yourself, the journey is pretty straight forward.
The time taken to travel from Singapore to the jetty takes an average 3.5- 4 hours, depending on the traffic conditions, time and season.
You can either drive your own car from Singapore or rent a car from Malaysia. Although, it can be strenuous to drive long hours and requires you to pay the parking fee and petrol, but driving is leisure (to some).
From Singapore, you’ll head over to Woodlands and cross the immigration. Once you’ve cross the border and entered Johor, use the EDL highway instead of Jalan Tebrau so as to avoid any traffic congestion.
From here on, look out for the direction that leads to Kota Tinggi and then to Mersing. Follow that direction and you’ll soon see the signs directing you to Tanjung Gemok. Once you’ve reached Tanjung Gemok, you’ll be able to find the signs leading you to the jetty.
After a few minutes, you’ll find an open space carpark at the jetty where you can park for MYR10 per day.
Route: Singapore –> Woodlands Causeway –> Johor Bahru –> Kota Tinggi –> Mersing –> Tanjung Gemok –> Tanjung Gemok Jetty.
Always plan your diving trip few weeks before arriving in Tioman because the dive centres need to make all the necessary arrangements to appoint a dive master for you, hence planning everything beforehand is vital.
Enquire for more information, the friendly crew of each dive centres are always ready to assist. Speak to them over the phone or via email if you’re unsure which dive course you’re able to take.
It is better to book a full board package such as ready-made packages that include lodgings.
Some dive centres provide a list of accommodations that are within easy reach of the centre itself.
If you’re wearing glasses, it is best to have a special goggle with prescription lenses so you can have a clear vision of the underwater world. Unfortunately, not every dive centres in Tioman have it, hence is easier to purchase it at a dive shop in the mainland before heading to Tioman.
The availability of ATM are scarce and credit cards can only be used in certain areas. Instead, cash is widely used in the island, so make sure to prepare enough cash in MYR currency.
If you’re not used to the movement of the boats when it crashes into the waves- seasick- you can inform the dive instructor and they will provide some anti-motion sickness pills. However, please notify the instructor if you have any allergy.
Tioman is a duty-free zone where tobacco, alcohol and chocolates are much cheaper than mainland.
